Stephanie Burnett is a passionate advocate for educational excellence who has spent over a decade serving the Mercer Island school community in leadership and volunteer roles that reflect her deep commitment to students, families, and staff. Stephanie is a dedicated parent to three children who are attending or have attended Mercer Island schools, and is herself a Mercer Island native who is a MIHS graduate (Class of 1998).
She currently serves as PTSA President at Islander Middle School and previously held the role of PTA President at Lakeridge Elementary. In 2025, her outstanding contributions were recognized with the PTA Council’s Outstanding Service Award. Beyond the schools, Stephanie supports the broader community through her work with the Mercer Island Youth and Family Services (MIYFS) Healthy Youth Coalition and as Membership Chair and Leadership Committee member of Scout Troop 647.
Professionally, Stephanie is the founding member of Ascend Aviation Law PLLC, where she brings nearly 20 years of legal and business experience advising clients in the complex world of aviation. She holds a B.S. in Human Factors Psychology from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and a J.D. from Washington & Lee University.
With deep roots in the Mercer Island community, a track record of trusted leadership, and a collaborative, student-centered approach, Stephanie Burnett is committed to supporting the success of every child and strengthening the future of Mercer Island’s schools.
